Written as he adjusts to his new riddled body, each poem is a lifeline to help him weather the physical and emotional challenges confronted each day. These poems are both accessible and rich in nuance, rewarding readers whatever their experience with poetry or late stage cancer.Neil McDonell is an international lawyer based in Manhattan. He was born in 1952 and grew up in Upstate New York and Mariemont, Ohio. He taught philosophy at Harvard University and Middlebury College before his three-decade career in the law. Like Wallace Stevens, T.S. Eliot, William Carlos Williams and Ted Kooser, McDonell moonlights (and sunrises) as a poet.He has performed his poetry at various venues in and around Manhattan, including Life Cafe in the East Village, Cleopatras Needle on the Upper West Side, and the Harvard Club in mid-town. His first collection of poetry, The Ribbed Sand, was published in a private print edition earlier this year. McDonell was a long-time friend of master poet Samuel Menashe (1925-2011).
